Advanced Traxxas
Advanced Traxxas is designed for students who did the Traxxas elective in the fall and who are ready to take on a bigger challenge. While the build won’t take as long, the understanding of building a rock climber that is an off roading RC car. Students will learn how these cars work, the design and making of sturdy tires, shocks that will allow these cars to handle obstacles and more will create a great learning environment. This elective will result in a RC Crawler car to take home and a full understanding on how they are built and how to repair and maintain them.

Becoming The Man God Wants You to Be
In this class, guys will be guided through the No Excuses study by Tony Evans where they will dive deeply into the heart of a man and challenges him to stand up, embrace the role God has made him for, live with integrity, love with ferocity, and to be the man God has made him to be. And it all begins when we stop making excuses. Students will receive a study book and a Bible to keep. This study will be led by a Christian male leader.

Beginning Art
Come enjoy A is for Art with us this fall. This class is paced for beginners and those who want to experience a variety of artistic mediums. Students will create individual projects using a variety of tools for a variety of mediums. Children enrolled in this class will try their hand at tracing, outlining, watercolor, tie-dye, sculpting and much much more. Since each session is unique and we don't duplicate projects, students can expect a fun filled semester learning about different countries, their art techniques, and should expect to have a whole lot of fun creating! Students will build their artistic confidence and ability all while learning to enjoy the process of creating art.

Board Games
Join this fun elective and learn to play a variety of board games. Board games can help to build communication skills and teach students to follow instructions. By learning different games, students will also learn that failing is ok and they encourage healthy competition too. This board games elective will help students understand how strategy is important, potentially problem solve and have the ability to think multi-steps ahead.

Confidence Club/Bible Study - Teen Girls
This semester we will be continuing our confidence and walking through the Seamless study for Teen Girls. We will be using this study to show our girls the complete understanding of God's story from Genesis to Revelation while learning who God says we are. Students will receive a study book and a Bible.

Digital Art
Come experience the world of digital art. Each month students will explore a different free digital art platform, such as Kleki.com, sketchbook, sketchbook pro, and many more. We will be using chrome books and Wacom digital drawing pads supplied by The Kid Connection University. If your child desires, they can bring their own laptop/iPad, tablet, or drawing pad. Digital art is fun, fast and user friendly. This class is designed for ages 9-14 years old. No prior experience is required.

Dramatic Play
Dramatic play is one of our favorite forms of play-based learning. It encourages large motor, fine motor and extensive vocabulary development. Your young ones will be pretending to be a chef in a restaurant, a veterinarian caring for pets or a firefighter spraying out the fire. Each week your child will get to actively play in a dramatic scene as well as have Sensory Bin time that is themed each week. Play is the foundation for all other learning!

This is a small group that will meet weekly after school using Orton Gillingham techniques to teach phonemic awareness and reading readiness. This class will be a fantastic support to our children with dyslexia who continue to progress in their overall ability to read with fluency and understanding. This class can be taken once a week or three times a week as the work given will be paced and individualized to meet the needs of each child.

Intro to French
French: In this fun class, students will begin speaking words and phrases in French right away! They'll learn basic greetings, numbers, foods and common words and sentences that they can practice and use in their everyday lives. The goal of French 1 is to give students a basic introduction to the French language in an engaging way so it sparks their interest in continuing on their foreign language journey for years to come!

Intro to Robotics
In this elective of robotics, the children will be introduced to the exciting world of programming and robotics through fun, hands-on activities. Children develop essential skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity as they learn to code robots to perform various tasks. Starting with simple commands, kids gradually advance to more complex coding concepts, such as loops, conditionals, and functions, empowering them to create their own robotic projects. Through interactive games, challenges, and projects, kids not only gain technical proficiency but also foster a passion for STEM subjects, preparing them for future success in a technology-driven world.

Intro to TRAXXAS - RC Cars
Beginning Traxxas is designed for students who did not build a Traxxas car in the Fall, or who loved it so much they want to build another one similar with a different body design. The car build will take most of the elective semester, but those who finish early will be able to tweak and learn how to best navigate through obstacle courses and controlling the speed. This elective will result in a RC car to take home and a full understanding on how they are built and how to repair and maintain them.

Intro to Typing
Typing is such an important tool to know. In this class, we will focus on teaching students the art of proper typing and work on keyboard location, proper hand placement, and begining to create confidence in typing. Our goal is to have students, but the end of the class able to locate keys without looking and begin their typing confidence to build on with practice to increase speed.

Knitting and Crocheting
Knitting and crochet is a creative outlet that introduces students to a new skill. Crochet and knitting helps fine motor skills and better hand eye co ordination. This elective will introduce students to basic stitches, pattern creation and project completion. We aim to use this knowledge to complete a variety of knitting and crochet creations over the semester. The meditative and repetitive action of both knitting and crocheting help to focus the mind on the activity, thereby slowing the nervous system and reducing anxiety and stress hormones in the body.

Life Skills Math
A really practical application of math. Students will gain hands-on experience practicing the math they will use in the real world. The realistic activities in this series will teach students about paying bills, keeping a transaction register, filling out a credit card application, shopping online, using a debit card, making and keeping to a budget, shopping for the best buy, and so much more!

Math Makes Sense - Early Elementary
MATH MAKES SENSE!! ....This is the most fundamental idea that we teachers can convey to our students. It is through this simple truth that students should DISCOVER basic foundations of math. This elective will be composted of multiple "hands on" activities that will enable students to discover HOW numbers make sense, so their "math light bulb" turns on. These simple activities will allow for discovery of how counting, basic addition, multiplication, equations, factors, prime numbers, composites, and multiple other functions in math are meaningful. Your child will LOVE math after going through this elective. And it will MAKE SENSE!

Power Hour
Need a little more time to get things done on Mondays and Fridays? Why not extend your time with a power hour! Children who are enrolled in both study lab and power hour will attend from 9am- 12pm. From 11-12pm we will have enrichment activities, board games, art and more! Come join the fun!

Puzzle Mania
"Puzzle Mania" caters to puzzle enthusiasts aged 11 and up, offering diverse challenges. From word searches, word scrambles, word code breakers and riddles, to a variety of hands-on puzzles, participants engage in mental exercises to enhance their skills. Participants will be able to work independently or with a friend. With its mix of traditional and interactive puzzles, "Puzzle Mania" ignites a passion for problem-solving beyond the classroom.

Our student leadership elective is an opportunity for students to develop leadership skills by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. The student leadership is the voice of the student body and they'll have a hand in planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare. Study Skills/Executive Functioning
Does your child struggle with planning and organization? Time management, study skills, focus, task initiation, or completion? In this 12 week elective kids will learn more about how we learn best, they will develop personal study skills that work for them, note taking strategies, organizational methods, and how to fuel our brain for success. This class is a must do as we lay the ground work for success in high school.

The Joy of Journaling
