At TKCU we believe that all students learn differently and that no child should be left behind if we are focused on nurturing and learning how each child becomes a confident and successful student. With small group sizes for each class, along with nurturing experienced teachers, we find curriculums that are standard-based to meet the needs of each of our students.

Your child doesn’t fit in a box.
Let’s educate them accordingly.

Kindergarten

  • At this age, we focus on helping students learn the basics of the Gospel. We want them to learn who God is, how we can know Him through Jesus, and how we can talk with him through prayer and the Bible.

  • Students receive a basic introduction to the world of mathematics! We want our students to explore the relationships between numbers and help them to understand how math works. We utilize creative crafts, number stories, projects, and homework to help students understand the logic behind math and give them a solid foundation to excel in this discipline. Our goal is to train children who know how to think mathematically and are able to use math as an important tool in life.

  • We want to help students learn how to write. We focus on repetition and practice to help students write legibly and clearly.

  • In Kindergarten, we set the building blocks to create lifelong readers. We use reading groups, games, songs, “read alouds”, and other engaging methods to illustrate that reading can be fun! We help students grow in their ability to read and comprehend, so that they can succeed throughout their academic career.

  • In social studies, students begin to learn about the history of the world and our nation. We look at historical sequence, geography, US culture and history, and more. In Kindergarten, we want students to cultivate an interest in social studies and in learning about how God has interacted with His creation throughout all of history.

  • In science, students begin studying God’s creation through physical, life, earth and space sciences. At this age, we try to cultivate a curious mind that wants to ask questions and learn through observation of God’s wonderful creation.

  • While we realize that character training takes place primarily in the home, we consistently try to model and teach godly character by focusing on the importance of respect, love, obedience, diligence, and forgiveness.

Elementary

  • At this age, we focus on helping students learn the basics of the Bible. We want them to learn who God is, how we can know Him through Jesus, and how we can talk with him through prayer. We will spend time in God’s word each day with daily devotion. Our goal is to create an environment for each family to flourish, and each child to know what God says of them.

  • We want our students to explore the relationships between numbers and help them to understand how math works. Throughout the elementary years, students progress in their ability to add, subtract, divide, multiply, and understand how it all works. This year, we are using Singapore math in the Lower grades.

  • At TKCU we believe that teaching cursive handwriting from the start creates a reading/writing connection. In the elementary years our focus is on proper technique of cursive so that as we enter upper elementary, it is solidified skill.

  • We want to help students lay an excellent reading foundation, while also growing in their ability to write and communicate. We will spend time in the areas of reading, vocabulary development, spelling, writing, grammar, and general communication. For language arts, we utilize personal reading, reading groups, and writing workshops.

  • In the lower elementary, we focus on general social studies, people of the world, missionaries, geography, and American history.

  • In science, we begin developing and cultivating a desire to learn through exploration and observation. Through interactive projects, we teach students the basics of the scientific method and scientific principles in physical, life, earth, and space science.

  • While we realize that character training takes place primarily in the home, we utilize class management techniques to encourage students to lead and submit to authority. Additionally, we focus on the importance of respect, love, obedience, diligence, and forgiveness.

In Kindergarten, we focus on developing the fundamental skills required to be lifelong learners. Below is an overview of the general emphasis of each subject.

At The Kid Connection University, our Lower Elementary program teaches basic core subject classes through a biblical worldview.  At this age, we focus on creating students who are confident learners growing in reading, writing, and critical thinking. At this age, we strive to connect how our education is tied to our worship of God.

Middle school is a life-stage marked by change. As they grow from childhood into adolescents, we want to begin teaching them how to engage in and become an active member of the community as well as,  live life that is honoring God.
